{"id":9120,"date":"2021-12-09T12:23:11","date_gmt":"2021-12-09T01:23:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mnygroup.com.au\/?p=9120"},"modified":"2025-02-01T17:36:37","modified_gmt":"2025-02-01T06:36:37","slug":"how-to-apply-director-identification-number","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mnygroup.com.au\/en\/how-to-apply-director-identification-number\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Apply Director Identification Number"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-base-3-color has-css-opacity has-base-3-background-color has-background\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the Modernising Business Registers Program (The MBR Program), The Director is introduced and Starting from November 2021, all directors are able to register their unique 15-digit identifier number to prevent the use of false or fraudulent director identities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-25c45748 gb-headline-text\"><strong>Three ways to apply for Director ID<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>All directors need to apply for their own director ID.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Apply using myGovID<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Apply via phone<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Apply via paper form<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The fastest way to do this is to apply online. If you need to apply via paper form or phone, please contact us for help or direct contact Australia Business Registry Services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 1 \u2013 Set up myGovID<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You will need a <strong>standard<\/strong> or <strong>strong<\/strong> identity strength myGovID to apply for your director ID online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>don\u2019t have a myGovID, you can find information on how to download the app at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mygovid.gov.au\/set-up\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">How to set up myGovID<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>OR<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>have a myGovID, you don\u2019t need to do anything until November when you can apply for your director ID.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Note: myGovID is different from myGov you use to access your personal ATO Portal, Centre Link etc..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2 \u2013 Gather your documents<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You will need to have some information the ATO knows about you when you apply for your director ID:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>tax file number (TFN)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>residential address as <strong>held<\/strong> by the ATO<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>answer two questions based on information from the following <strong>two<\/strong> documents:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>bank account details,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Information required: BSB and account number (preferably the account you use to receive tax refund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>an ATO notice of assessment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Information required: date of issue and reference number<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>super account details<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Information required: member account details (up to 16 characters), super fund\u2019s Australian Business Number (ABN)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a dividend statement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Information required: Use a dividend statement from the last two years. You will need your investment reference number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a Centrelink payment summary<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Use a Centrelink payment summary issued in the last two years to provide your taxable income in whole dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>PAYG payment summary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This has been replaced by Single Touch Payroll from FY2018-2019 onwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3 \u2013 Complete your application<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have a standard or strong identity strength myGovID, and your documents, from November 2021 you can log in here and apply for your director ID.
